Northgate: Safe Shift is a warehouse safety onboarding sample for Northgate Freight. New starters suit up, walk the green walkways, spot hazards, lift right and report problems across five short, hands-on modules, then earn their Shift Complete certificate.
Every choice gets a one-line reason, right or wrong, so a mistake still teaches the rule. The tone stays friendly and clear throughout: a wrong answer gets a calm explanation, never a scare, and any module can be replayed.
Made for HR teams, trainers, operations managers and the new starters themselves. It plays in the browser on a desktop, tablet or phone, with mouse and keyboard, touch or a gamepad.
How to play
Type your first name on the title screen and press Start shift. Each module opens with a short card that explains the goal and the controls. Modules unlock in order, and you can retry any of them to beat your best score.
- Suit Up: drag the right kit onto Alex. Hi-vis vest, safety boots, work gloves and safety glasses go on; the wrong items bounce off.
- Walkways: lead new starter Sam to Packing Station 14. Stay in the green walkway and stop and look both ways at each of the three crossings.
- Spot the Hazard: tap the four hazards in Aisle 4, then in the Loading bay, before Supervisor Rosa finishes her walk-round.
- Lift Right: five loads, three ways to move each one. Pick the safe way.
- Report It: five situations on the floor. Choose fix it, fence it off, report it or stop work.
A reason for every answer
Right or wrong, every choice is followed by one plain sentence that explains why: safety boots have steel toe caps, headphones block out forklift horns, a team lift halves the strain on an awkward load. Each module is scored out of 100 with up to three stars, and a missed hazard is shown with its reason at the end of the walk-round.
The Shift Complete certificate
Finish all five modules and the game shows a Shift Complete certificate with the learner's first name, all five module scores, the total out of 500 and the date, with a prompt to show it to their trainer. It can be opened again from the title screen at any time.
For trainers and HR
The five modules cover protective kit, pedestrian walkways and forklift crossings, hazard spotting, safe lifting and carrying, and knowing when to fix, fence off, report or stop work.
There is no account and nothing to install. The first name and best scores stay on the device that played. Safe Shift is a training sample, so use it alongside your own site induction and procedures.
