Friday night in a log cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains, just Linda and her boyfriend Dash, miles from anyone. Then Dash finds a box of old records in the closet and plays the wrong one. By the time the storm rolls in, he is not feeling like himself.
Dead Cabin: Final Girl is a campy first-person horror game in the spirit of the old cabin-in-the-woods movies. You are Linda. Shove, run, grab whatever is in the tool shack and swing it, then survive a long night in a cabin that remembers everything that happens inside it and gets a little stranger every time.
How to play
Press ENTER THE CABIN and settle in: the night starts quiet. Follow the line of text at the top of the screen and the amber notch on the compass; together they always tell you what to do next.
- Walk around the cabin and poke at things while Dash relaxes on the sofa
- When something comes at you, SHOVE it back to buy a second, even bare-handed
- Tap attack to swing, hold attack for a heavy blow
- When an enemy drops to its knees, finish the job with a heavy blow
- Your health creeps back if you avoid getting hurt for a while
- Dying sends you back to the start of the current encounter, not the whole night
The night
The story runs as a prologue, five encounters and a finale. Every encounter starts with a checkpoint, and every chapter you reach unlocks in the CHAPTERS menu so you can replay it.
No spoilers here: the cabin changes as the night goes on, there is more out there that can help you than one shovel, and the HOW TO SURVIVE page only describes the weapons you have already found.
